Foot: The Socially Networked Classroom

I thought that since we were reading this book for a multi-modal class it would be neat to download it electronically onto the Kindle on my phone. I figured it would make it more convenient for me to read and be easier to navigate. On the contrary, I found that many of the pages were left gray and I couldn't see some of the most important information. Needless to say, I asked for a refund and am awaiting the actual text. From what I was able to read, I was really interested. I first of all think it's really cool that a professor that I'm going to have next semester wrote a book that could be purchased on the Kindle. Second, everything he wrote about made a lot of sense. I liked all the activity ideas, many of which we have already demonstrated in class, and they have shown to be very fun and help us to network our own classroom.

I am hoping that this book arrives soon so I can finish it and find the pages I couldn't view from the Kindle. I think this just goes to show that not all technology can be trusted. I think it's very important to integrate it into the classroom, but sometimes sticking to the actual text is going to be a better choice, at least it is in my case. I also personally enjoy the feel and smell of books, which you just can't get when you're reading from a screen.
