Foot: The Battle for Facebook

Reading this article went right along with the History of the Internet and Little Brother. There were thing about coding which was talked about a lot in Little Brother. I wish I even knew what that consisted of, it would just boggle my mind to know what went in to making websites, even the one i'm using right now. It was interesting that they tied what happened to Bill Gates into this story. It made me recall reading the Oral History of the Internet and how people wanted to take credit for his ideas, just like they were doing to Mark. It's also really interesting that as this was being created, many of us were a part of MySpace and had no idea about what was going on. I honestly didn't know about Facebook until about 2007, I was a part of MySpace and didn't know any better. I didn't know that it started as a college only site, and my friend introduced it to me during our senior year because she had made a profile to communicate with her boyfriend who was away at college.

Now that I use Facebook everyday, it's crazy to think of the days when everyone was using MySpace. I still have a profile, but I never log on. I think my last posting was nearly two years ago, but I never made an effort to delete it. Since Facebook, I have been able to easily stay in touch with all of my friends from high school, from church, and from other colleges. We are able to share photos, day to day encounters, and our experiences with each other, near or far. I think it interesting that he got this idea to connect people together and it really has.

   Thanks Mark Zuckerberg! :)
