Out of all the classes we've had to take so far, this is probably the most beneficial and useful one. I've taken away so many things that will help me in my student teaching, as well as when I become a teacher. I've learned a lot of different theories and techniques that will help me when I'm teaching literature. I've learned a lot about Canonical texts, young adult literature and how pairing them together can be effective. I think that this class was challenging and it took a lot of work, but I don't think we're going to become good teachers unless we put forth effort and push ourselves to learn as much as we possibly can. We owe that much to our future students. We need to be highly qualified, so we can help them reach their full potential.
I think just the way in which we were taught throughout this class will help me with my teaching skill. The activities and time management of this class made me forget about how long it was and helped me focus on what we were leaning. I hope that I will be able to have such a well organized and structurally sound classroom; and be a teacher as effective as Dr. Pytash. Thank you for helping us be the best teachers we can be. :-)
I agree with you Angel! The manner in which Dr. Pytash teaches helped to teach us a lot itself. She was so organized and knew the material so well. Some days it did not even seem like a class because she was at such ease and knew what she was doing. I'm sure we all have quite a few years before we get to that point, but I enjoyed her structure and hope to apply some of her techniques in my future classroom.
ReplyDeleteI agree as well. This was probably the most beneficial class that I've taken at Kent State. The classroom activities really helped me to have a better understanding of the subjects that we were covering. They definately made the class go by faster and they were fun.
ReplyDeleteAll of the activities that we did just seemed like we were all friends meeting up to play games. I thought that these classes were fun, and made it so it didn't seem that we were learning until after the fact when we looked back. I would sometimes leave class feeling like all we did was talk about nothing, then my mom would ask me what I learned in school that day. I could always tell her something from Dr. Pytash's class even though her class was the most laid back and fun. This just goes to show that classrooms don't always have to be so structured that students KNOW what they're supposed to be learning, but that sometimes learning can come up and surprise students.
