Foot: Multigenre Project
After watching the video Amanda posted, I decided to look up different shows from the 90's. There were tons of video's and a lot of them had things on them I had never even heard of. When I came across this one, it pretty much summed up my entire childhood. I watched almost all of these shows, listened to the music, and read the books that are shown. It's amazing what memories come back to you when you revisit the things that influenced you. It makes me want to go back and be a kid again, having to decide what to eat for lunch and when we would go back outside to run around in the sun and play on the swing set. It also makes me think about when I have kids and what their childhood is going to consist of.
I flip through the T.V now and I see things like "Handy Manny," "Dora the Explorer," "Special Agent Oso," and a few classics that have been remade. It's a completely different world within a matter of ten years, so by the time I have kids, there will probably be another huge change in everything. I think it's really great that almost every children's show is aimed at teaching them literacy and even multicultural literacy because many of them teach Spanish right along side English. I sometimes wish I could have grown up fluent in two different languages. I think that the children growing up in this generation will have a great advantage for the future, or at least an easier time in Spanish class once they get to high school.

I too, was obsessed with Tiny Toons. I agree with what you said about how quickly shows and really anything can change. The music is completely different then it was in the eighties and the nineties, and the movies and television shows are too. I am interested to see what obsession our future children will end up having!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Tiny Toons! I was an Animanics kind of girl myself, but looking at all the old tv shows that I watched when I was a kid, I know they had some impact on how I am today. It's amazing to think that all those shows are no longer on television.
ReplyDeleteYour video brought back so many memories and made me miss the 90's so much. I do not think there is much comparison when looking at the cartoons that are now. There's something that is missing in them. Although, I will agree with Angel the cartoons now are introducing kids to things we did not encounter until later in life.
